LAKE ONTARIO AUG 26-28

After a quick overnight just outside Binghamton, NY we headed directly north to Lake Ontario, western NY. Lake Ontario is the eastern-most Great Lake and the boundary between the US and Canada is in the middle of the lake.

We had picked a campground that is an island in the lake at Henderson Harbor
CAMPGROUND NEAR HENDERSON HARBOR
.  When we first arrived we drove around the island and really enjoyed the views of the water.

That night we enjoyed a spectacular sunset.  They say it happens all the time!!!

Our objective for this stop is for Chick to fish for King Salmon in the lake.  A lifelong friend from his hometown,  Brent Richardson, joined him.  They got up around 5 am and came home after lunch.

Chick has been getting a lot of grief for his little fish, so check out his results for today.!  (We only have one picture but it is pretty impressive. Hopefully the boat captain will send us the others that he took!)

Even more startling to me was when he came through the door of Snoopy with 35 POUNDS of salmon to be frozen.  They had caught another 17 pounder and some bass.  Brent took the bass and we got the salmon. It took 3 days on max cold before they were frozen solid.  It is a good thing we just finished his salmon catch from last August in Alaska!

Needless to say we had grilled salmon for dinner that night!!

While Chick fished I spent the entire time trying to get the internet to work enough to send ONE DAY of the blog.  It took me more than 5 hours of trying! That afternoon we walked around Robert G Wehle State Park --- about 3 miles from our campsite.

In the morning we move again, this time to Old Forge in the Adirondack State Park.  In planning the trip I tried to find places to hike or things to do near Henderson Harbor, but the only thing I could find were beaches and sand,  and I hate sand!
